Approximately 4200 divorce cases are filed each year in Ocean County. Although the county is in the top half of high-filing counties, the process moves through the system with relative speed.
Whether you live in Dover, Brick, Lakewood, Manchester, Jackson or one of the other larger communities in Ocean County, or a less populous community like Stafford Township or Point Pleasant, your uncontested divorce will be filed with the Ocean County Superior County, Chancery Division, Family Part located in Toms River.
The timeframe for an uncontested divorce in Ocean County is above average (2 – 4 months). A court appearance is required for issuance of the Judgment of Divorce. On the day of the divorce hearing your case will be called and heard by the assigned Judge. I will appear with you in court, and represent you as we walk through the necessary testimony to prove your complaint for divorce.
Based on my experience Ocean County judges are open to telephone appearances by clients if the client cannot attend court in person, due to military service, or in some circumstances, relocation out-of-state. After the divorce is granted the Judgment of Divorce is signed by the judge and you leave the court that day with the court sealed Judgment in your hand. A marriage certificate is not required to be produced in order to prove the existence of the marriage to the Court.
The Judges of the Ocean County Superior Court, Family Part are:
